In the US and Europe, millions of bicycles are stolen each year - in many cases where good locks have been used. In the UK, official figures indicate 400,000 cycles are stolen annually. The un-official rate is undoubtedly higher.

The BikeBug radio alarm system is designed to cut opportunistic theft.

How does it work?

When the owner locks the bike - perhaps outside a house or a restaurant - he/she activates the alarm by a small controller. The owner takes the controller with them. If the bike or lock is moved, then the alarm signal is radioed to the controller. The owner has time to frighten off the thief and call the police.
